Braymer C-4 Meets AYP Goals

Based on preliminary data provided by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), Braymer C-4 is one of only 25% of the districts in the state to meet the 2008 adequate yearly progress (AYP) goals established under No Child Left Behind (NCLB).

In order to meet the 2008 AYP targets, 51% of the district’s students had to score proficient or advanced on the state’s Communication Arts MAP assessment and 45% of the district’s students had to score proficient or advanced on the state’s Math MAP assessment.  NCLB looks at student achievement in terms of total students in a district and in terms of subgroups that meet a minimum qualifying number of students.  In Braymer, the elementary school, high school, and district as a whole each has 3 subgroups that must meet the annual AYP targets – total students, white students, and free/reduced lunch.  In 2008, all nine groups met the goals.

Attendance and Graduate Rates are also used by DESE as additional indicators for district and school progress.  The elementary, high school and district each met these indicators.

“I am very proud of our students’ performance on last spring’s MAP tests,” said Don Regan, High School Principal.  “Student achievement improved by as much as 40% in some areas.  The students worked very hard and did a great job.  I would also like to thank the faculty for all of their hard work as well.”
